Organize Your Information
The first step, of course, is to get your information organized and get it into the system. This may take a bit of doing but imagine the relieve of knowing that your assets are itemized, your insurance policies are documented and all of your vital financial information is available from anywhere, at any time.
Setup Your Information
There are a number of different types of information which you can add to your DocsForKeeps information vault. You can create a separate entry for each Asset and Insurance policy, you can record all of your Bank Accounts and outstanding Loans. You can record information about personal loans your have made or regular payments which you are required to make.
Setup Your Users
Each person you want to be included in your estate, or notified in the event of your death must be set up in the system. The first step is add their name and email address. An email will be sent to them notifying them they have been been included in your list of friends and loved ones. They will simply have to respond to be identified as a connected person in DocsForKeeps.
Define Access
There will be some information that you want to keep for yourself - never to been seen by others. The Executor of your estate will see most of your information - and then there will be information you want each person to see. Business partners may only see information related to the business, children may only see information that is specific to them. It is your choice what others see and when they see it.
Setup Your Personal Profile
There are many things to decide here: Do you want other people to know you have an account with DocsForKeeps - and if so, what information is to be displayed? Do you want the people to know immediately what your intentions are, or do you want that to wait until your death? How often do you want DocForKeeps to contact you - it is an automated system that will look for a simple email reply to be assured that you are still with us. What steps do you want DocsForKeeps to take in the event that you do not reply - who should be contacted and what should they be asked.
Write Your Final Message
There are often many things left unsaid when we pass away. With DocsForKeeps, you can be sure that your loved ones, and others, receive your final message. You can write a single message that is sent to everyone on your list, or you can write a message that is specific to each person on your list. Write it once and save it for the future, or update it as your circumstance and feelings change.
